چکیده

The calcite form of calcium carbonate CaCO₃ undergoes a reversible phase transition between Rc and Rm at ~1240 K under a CO₂ atmosphere of ~0.4 MPa. The joint probability density function obtained from the single-crystal X-ray diffraction data revealed that the oxygen triangles of the CO₃ group in the high temperature form (Phase V) do not sit still at specified positions in the space group Rm, but migrate along the undulated circular orbital about carbon. The present study also shows how the room temperature form (Phase I) develops into Phase V through an intermediate form (Phase IV) in the temperature range between ~985 K and ~1240 K.

Effect of aging temperature on structural evolution of HP-Nb heat resistant steel

In this study, the changes in microstructure of HP-Nb cast heat resistant steel after 8 years of service at high temperatures were investigated. Study of microstructure using optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with an energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) showed that the microstructure of this steel in as-cast condition includes an austenitic matrix, and that...

Origin and evolution of ore-forming fluids in the magnetite±apatite Lake Siah deposit (Bafq): Evidence of fluid inclusions and oxygen stable isotope

The Lake Siah magnetite ± apatite deposit is situated in the northeastern of Bafq and Central Iran tectonic zone. The host rock of deposit is composed from lower Cambrian volcano-sedimentary sequence that has exposed as caldera complex. The iron mineralization is as massive ore and includes magnetite and hematite which form with apatite, quartz and calcite gangue minerals. Based on fluid inclus...

The effect of nano transition metals on microstructure and phase evolution of low carbon MgO-C refractories

In the present study, the effect of Iron Nitrate as catalytic precursor to in situ formation of nano-Fe particles in phenolic resin and microstructural evolution of MgO-C refractories has been investigated. Therefore, various samples according to matrix section formulation of low carbon MgO-C refractories (LCMCR’s) with 0 and 6 wt% (Fe/Phenolic resin) were prepared and phase and microstructure ...

The structural and diagenetic evolution of injected sandstones: examples from the Kimmeridgian of NE Scotland

Injected sandstones occurring in the Kimmeridgian of NE Scotland along the bounding Great Glen and Helmsdale faults formed when basinal fluids moved upward along the fault zones, fluidizing Oxfordian sands encountered at shallow depth and injecting them into overlying Kimmeridgian strata. The orientation of dykes, in addition to coeval faults and fractures, was controlled by a stress state rela...

Ductile flow in sub-volcanic carbonate basement as the main control for edifice

25 Limestone in volcanic basements has been identified as a hazard in terms of edifice stability 26 due to the propensity of calcite to decompose into lime and CO2 at high temperatures (>600 27 ̊C), causing a decrease in mechanical strength. To date, such hypotheses have been tested by 28 experiments performed at ambient pressure. The present work determines the mechanical 29 strength of limesto...
